"This is Maul. State your business."

Also always up for backdating anything specific done during events or plots that we weren't able to get to e.g. memshares, shapeshifting into other forms, etc. Just let me know what you'd like to do!

[Maul hadn't been inclined to show any mercy to Anakin after how he'd been acting, brandishing his lightsaber and demanding answers for how to leave Deerington.]
If I tell people that I didn't do it, most won't believe it. You're telling me if I get the one who actually did it to confess, they still won't believe me. I'm not seeing a good solution here that leads to my name being cleared of this murder charge against me.

[Why is his universe like this? Who is in charge of giving all these unstable people incredibly dangerous weapons like lightsabers? It's pretty clear why loss of limb doesn't seem to be such an uncommon injury where Maul's from, and why he doesn't seem to recognize it as a particularly big deal.]
All I'm suggesting is maybe try to be a little careful about how you go about getting your confession from this guy. My world has a history with people being wrongly convicted because of forced confessions, so anyone who knows about that kind of thing might be a little extra cautious if they get that kind of vibe.
You've already said you find it discouraging when people jump to the wrong conclusions about you. I just don't want to see that happen here, especially in this case when it's pretty obvious you're not responsible for Flynn.

Once you meet him, you'll understand. He has not a brain in his head, just impulsive decisions he then tries to justify as being correct. That first day, apparently he thought threatening everyone around him was the way to get out of Deerington. If I hadn't stopped him, he would have killed someone eventually trying to get an answer that was to his liking.
[And the scary thing is that the Force-users in town are fully trained. Just imagine what the students that haven't mastered their powers and weapons yet are like!]
If it takes a good beating to get him to confess, then so be it. I don't have enough patience to sit around and try to coax him with pleading and cajoling to do the right thing. He started this so I am going to finish it.

It's a good thing you were there to stop him. He sounds like he's a pretty dangerous person. I'm not sure that's someone I want to run into, honestly.
[She gives him a wry smile.]
I kind of think there's enough dangerous people in my life right about now.
Anyway, I know you're going to do whatever you think you need to, so there's not much point in trying to convince you otherwise, but at least think about what I said?

[Maul has lived his entire life in the dark so he at least knows how to handle it. For Anakin, he was certain it was more like a bolt of lightning charging him up every time.]
I'll think about. But, as always, I will do what I must.
(no subject)
[He's actually going to think about it? That in and of itself is impressive progress!]
That's all I ask.
(no subject)
[Two steps forward and three steps back every time either of them tried to do anything.]
Good. And do spread the word that it wasn't me. Even if it doesn't reach everyone, it might reach some of the right ears.
(no subject)
[She nods.]
Don't worry, if anyone tells me they think it was you, I'll set them straight.
