He's a Jedi but he's dangerously close to falling to the Dark Side. But because he hasn't been on that side his entire life, it only serves to destabilize his mind even more every time he taps into it.

[Maul has lived his entire life in the dark so he at least knows how to handle it. For Anakin, he was certain it was more like a bolt of lightning charging him up every time.]

I'm working on a way to get him back on the Light Side with Obi-Wan but it is slow going.
