Hope, like pride, seems to be something of a double edged sword. It's beneficial until it isn't. But in this case a little isn't bad, for the chance of it happening seems to be higher than zero by a good amount.
Well said and a good way to look at the emotion. When it is not beneficial, I don’t use it, but in this case I feel it has been good to hold onto it.
Unfortunate but for the best. Those with a solid moral compass should not have it challenged on a whim like that. I'll find alternatives, eventually.
