[Her tone was very carefully controlled, something that was probably pretty obvious. She was usually prone to either a playful tone, or a lot of passion when she spoke. To be this measured? She was holding emotion back. A lot of it. After all, she was trying not to assume. Assumption was dangerous as it related to Maul. Many had misunderstood or misapprehended what he did in the past, and she barely knew Annakin.

She wanted clarity before she even began to judge.]

I think you know I'm not pleased to hear this. [She definitely didn't sound pleased.] The violence I understand better than most and the nature of what we experience in this place only makes that worst, but this was intentional.

I would like to know why you did it, and what you were trying to accomplish. These bonds are incredibly powerful. At worst, a death might be traumatizing and leave a person in a bad state as they recover, but this... I am not even sure how it can be broken, other than that it likely could. It's irrevocable under normal circumstances.

Skywalker has power beyond that of any other Force-user I have seen. I wanted to have that for myself. When I found out the hostile bond could grant that, I immediately plotted to take it for myself.

[That's really all there is to it. Maul absorbed the lesson of 'If you want power, take it by any means necessary' a little too well from his master growing up.]

Ngh... thank you for the honesty in this at the very least. I think you probably are already beginning to see the injudicious nature of what you've received through this. It isn't granting you the kind of power you thought it would, is it?

[There was judgment in her tone, but she was keeping that stilled, focusing on the practical. It was important to do that, to focus on ways she felt he would better understand.]

I'm... upset, Maul. You know this. But I think... I think perhaps what will help you a little is helping to consider those consequences. Just a moment. You're the sort of person who, if you know the consequences, you will choose with them in consideration very carefully.

I suspect that steps will be taken to address the consequences by others. [She was pretty sure that was in the works already. Something that she would not need to participate in, other than just helping someone whoo had asked questions.]

Yes, I am beginning to realize this was short-sighted decision to make. It is already causing chaos among many of the people that I know.

I am sure they will. They are welcome to try. How successful they will be is a completely different story.

I... am glad you're willing to permit them to try. there may be methods available. I doubt they're pleasant, and they'll need to be careful before the attempt, for both of your sake.

Time will address this one way or another. But... I am glad you understand.

If there are, I will allow them to try so long as I am not severely injured physically or mentally in the process. I will not become a martyr just to soothe the upset feelings that have happened over this.

I learn from my mistakes. Slowly. But I do.

I believe the few I have seen do not have an intention of ... well, not to put too fine a point on it? Repeating certain mistakes from the past, so they will be careful. I hope.

That's probably a good policy, at least for the moment. I'm obviously still around, and I'm not distancing myself from you because of this. But we did need to talk. We can talk more later.
