"This is Maul. State your business."
Voice | Video | Text | Action
Also always up for backdating anything specific done during events or plots that we weren't able to get to e.g. memshares, shapeshifting into other forms, etc. Just let me know what you'd like to do!
(no subject)
He closed his eyes as their foreheads knocked together in the familiar greeting. He did look briefly alarmed when already Maul was excusing himself, and when his brother moved out of sight, his purring stopped and he shifted a bit as if attempting to get up to follow Maul. That ended with him basically giving up and straining his ears to listen. Was Maul making them food? He wasn't hungry, but he would eat if meant his brother would stay.
He was hugging Ruin even tighter, and the poor rathtar seemed to deflate in an attempt to not be squished. At what seemed to be an order in his addled brain, he eased his grip and the moment that Ruin could pull itself free, it did so and rolled away in relief.
Now that his arms weren't full of anything but air, Savage managed to look like he was about to pout. His fingers flexed and he curled a little in on himself.]
You'll stay then? Just for a little while? You're never home.
[His grip on the passage of time was terrible in such a state. A few hours could feel like days.]
(no subject)
Never? Never? I’m here more often than not!
[It was true that Maul came and went like a feral alley cat but he always ended up coming back to the house they shared in the end. His brother meant everything to him and just sharing space was enough to make Maul content, the two of them in each other’s orbit and often ending the nights sleeping curled up one next to the other.
He could feel the food starting to kick in and create a familiar buzz of strange energy within. Everything started to seem to lose focus a little bit, sights and sounds just a little stranger than they normally would have been. He turned to look at Savage, fingers moving down to trace some of his tattoos in a slow fashion.]
Have you been lonesome, brother?
(no subject)
Of course, he was out and about slowly himself. He was exploring the region, and he began to take particular interest in the seedy underbelly of this place. He hadn't been down there much this month because... well, obvious reasons. Wandering like this made him an easy mark for being stabbed or bled.]
Are you certain? I rarely see you.
[He could argue about it because it seemed like a good idea. Of course, off of his ideas of arguing against his elder brother went right by the wayside when he felt fingers stroking his tattoos, and he instantly began to purr again, his eyes half closing as all his previous concerns just evaporated like a rathtar escaping his grip.]
No. But it's lonely when you aren't around.
(no subject)
If you think I have been gone too much, I shall try to endea-- [He paused, trying to think of the right word.] --endear-- [No, that wasn't the right one either. Maul just gave up.] --I shall try to be here more often.
[He and his brother had been separated for so much of their life that they needed to make up for time. It was nice just to have days where they were in each other's orbits, the two of them fixing up the house or building the Legos or even Maul reading in one room while Savage doted on Ruin in another.
The room began to feel like it was starting to whirl and so he laid down next to his brother, still slowly tracing all of his different tattoos.]
That is the very definition of lonesome, Savage.
[He glanced down at one of the tattoos on Savage's chest, tracing it gently with a claw.]
I know this one. It was the one I came up with when Mother asked me to create a tattoo design for you. She was giving you your first ones when you were a year old.
[Maul himself had only been about four but he remembered such an occasion very distinctly, having taken his role as older brother being asked his opinion very seriously. Talzin had been very fond of her eldest and kept him close by even long after he was past the age where he traditionally would been sent to the Nightbrother village. That had included allowing him to participate in the ritual of giving Savage his first tattoos.]
(no subject)
He'd lost Feral. He couldn't lose Maul. No, not couldn't but wouldn't.
When Maul lay down, Savage's arms outstretched to capture his brother and pull Maul in against him in a fierce hug. He would be hard-pressed to be convinced to let go either, and his purring continued with the tracing of his tattoos.]
Is it? Doesn't matter. You're here now.
[He tipped his head to regard the tattoo in question. For others, they wouldn't even hope to know the meanings like he and Maul. That particular tattoo was one of his favourites, more so now that he knew it was one that Maul had given him. He had been too young to know them too much at the time and his brother taken too early in his life for full recognition that part of who he was came directly from his brother.]
I always liked that one, though until you told me it was your design, I didn't know. [He leaned his forehead against his brother's.] Do you remember what gave you inspiration for the look of this one?
(no subject)
[Maul went a little limp in Savage's grasp. His brother was extremely strong, much more so physically than Maul himself was. He was able to win in sparring matches between them because he had more skill and experience, but if Savage ever got up to his level, he'd be a force hard-pressed to be stopped.
He traced the mark on Savage's skin that looked like a cross between a sun and a vase with marks that sprang off of it on either side.]
The look of the Dathomirian sky when several of the moons are out.
[Because there was only one sun but four moons, it could make the night sky sometimes look odd. Such a sight had delighted and fascinated the young Maul.]
I thought if you had a design that resembled the way our home looked, you'd always remember it and your family well.
(no subject)
The limpness only had his arms fastening in such a way that it would be difficult for Maul to wiggle, squirm or force the way out of his grip. He even threw a leg over Maul's mechanical thighs to keep them right where he wanted them. Brute strength was his main characteristic in combat and in hand-to-hand scuffles.
He tipped his head down enough that he could watch Maul's fingers trace the tattoo. He hummed in pleasant surprise to the story of it. He could picture the exact scene that Maul described, and his eyes closed so he could see that printed against the back of his eyelids.]
Dathomir might have been a dangerous place, but it was beautiful. When the moons were bright, the sky was so bright. I miss the sky there. [Not too much else though.]
(no subject)
Yes. There is nowhere in the galaxy that quite as a sky like home.
[He closed his eyes for a moment too, imagining the way the things looked when he was on his home planet. He hadn't been back there in what felt like forever. Now he was starting to feel a little homesick for it.]
DO you miss anything else about Dathomir, brother?
(no subject)
No. It takes many cycles for the moons to all appear together in close proximity, but it is like a night of daylight. All the rivers and lakes of Dathomir are swelled and the voices of the planet sing.
[The ichor was extremely strong on the rare times the moons came together, and it was supposed to be auspicious for the Nightsisters. He had been a teenager for the last merge of the moons, but even he had felt the pull of the voices. He looked back on it now realizing it was a sign of his Force sensitivity, undeveloped as it was.]
I miss... the stories, and I miss the hunts. It was a simpler life, as much as I hated how I wasted away there nothing more than waiting for the next time a Nightsister came to call Selection.
(no subject)
I was never able to witness that myself but it sounds like such a glorious sight.
[He'd been taken from Dathomir far too young before the next union of moons had happened. Maul had lost out on so much of the Nightkin culture due to being Sidious' apprentice but he tried not to think of that right now. It would only make him feel depressed right now, so he tried to focus on other things.]
Yes, your true potential was not fully realized until you were able to travel with me.
[That being said:]
We should go hunting here soon. There are so many monsters and beasts here that it would make fine sport for the two of us to take on some and win.
[Maul's cockiness was much clearer when he was buzzed like right now. He felt completely invincible like nothing in the world could touch him.]
(no subject)
[Savage spoke quietly but with an excited whisper of old memory that was clearly enhanced by how high he was. With his eyes closed, he could picture it in his mind's eye.]
A Brother was born under the united moons once, and apparently the Sisters sacrificed him to the Winged Goddess and the Fanged God for blessings. Many Sisters were born in the following season.
[He sighed and hugged Maul closer just to try to share in the experience of memory and legends. If the story of the Brother was true, he never would have been able to verify, but stories had to come from somewhere, right?]
Yes, I want to hunt. I want fresh meat, and I want to fight for it.
(no subject)
[Maul said happily. Perhaps this place would bring their home again the way it had done once before. Then they might be able to witness it together.
Such dark talk should have been alarming or at least raised goosepimples up on Maul's arms but instead he found it soothing in his inebriated state, listening to the tales of home that he'd been deprived of, a child of Dathomir but torn away from his home planet all too soon.
He wheezed just a little as Savage hugged him tight again but this time he let it happen, hugging his brother back a little bit too. The idea of going hunting together appealed to him greatly, something that they could do that they both enjoyed.]
Yeeeesssss, we shall have to do so very soon.
[Maul said, drawing out the first word. He would have suggested doing so right then and there but he wasn't even sure if he could get up. The room seemed to be spinning more than just a little bit.]
(no subject)
[Force sensitive, he meant. It had been one of the few times where he had been aware of it because otherwise it was just a feeling or an instinct. A warning of danger, a whisper on the wind or a response in his flesh he couldn't explain. That night, he had felt so alive.
He eased his grip a few moments later, going back into relaxing enough that Maul could breathe again. Not escape, never that. He sighed through his nose and nodding his head. Too bad they couldn't hunt right now, but that would require far more than either of them had in coordination. It also required him letting go of Maul, so no go.]
Yes. We will feast in the forest.
[He yawned and nuzzled Maul's head with his chin. It was with pleasant thoughts of hunting and eating as he once had back on Dathomir that lulled him closer and closer to sleep.]
(no subject)
[He would have liked to learn more but so much of his time after being rescued by his brother was taken up with schemes, plotting, and war. Learning about the culture and people he'd been separated from had not been high on the list. Now, here in the place he was determined to make a home for possibly the rest of his life, he felt he finally had the chance to breathe and learn more from his brother.]
Very soon, yes, we will go and triumph over all the beasts there. Your fighting prowess is like no other.
[As soon as Savage began to yawn, Maul began to as well. He couldn't help it, they were contagious. (Which did at least prove that he wasn't a sociopath the way so many people thought.) His eyes fluttered shut and his breathing evened out as he was lulled to sleep in his brother's arms.]
(no subject)
[He yawned again, sensing when his brother just plain went to sleep. He struggled to stay awake, keen to enjoy the closeness with Maul, but he was ultimately unsuccessful in his endeavor. He sighed and drifted off to sleep not long after Maul had, the topic of their heritage and stories letting him have wonderful dreams.]
